The club had fielded Gaelic football teams as far back as 1890, however, since a reorganisation in 1957 the club is now primarily concerned with hurling. Club colours are blue and gold.

The club has two Carlow senior titles - 1973 and 2001.

In 2001 they were victorious in a one sided final against Mount Leinster Rangers on a scoreline of 2-10 to 0-04. In the 1973 final they defeated Naomh Eoin by 5-05 to 2-09.

The clubs most famous hurler is Pat English.
