Dundalk Young Irelands GFC

Founded in 1884, the same year as the Gaelic Athletic Association itself, Dundalk Young Irelands is one of the oldest GAA clubs in Ireland and the oldest in County Louth. Known affectionately as The Irelanders, they wear the iconic green and black and play at Pairc Eire Og in Dundalk.

Historical Highlights
1887: Won the inaugural Louth Senior Football Championship, then represented Louth in the first-ever All-Ireland Final, narrowly losing to Limerick Commercials.

Early 1900s: Claimed senior titles in 1905 and 1911, with key figures like Joe Ward, who later became a major administrator in Louth GAA.

Golden Era (1938 to 1950): Dominated Louth football with six Senior Championship wins, including back-to-back titles and multiple league-championship doubles.

1950: Achieved a rare feat by winning both the Senior and Junior Championships in the same year.

Revival and Modern Success
After periods of decline, the club focused on youth development and community rebuilding. Their efforts paid off in 2018, when they captured both the Louth Junior Football Championship and the AIB Leinster Junior Club title, marking a triumphant return to form.
