Séamus Kennedy is a gifted dual player whose athleticism, intelligence, and versatility have made him a standout figure in Tipperary GAA. Hailing from Clonmel, he represents St Mary’s in hurling and Clonmel Commercials in football, excelling in both codes with remarkable consistency. Kennedy made his senior football debut for Tipperary in 2015 and followed it up with a hurling debut in 2016, quickly establishing himself as a key figure in the half-back line.
A two-time All-Ireland senior hurling champion (2016 and 2019), Kennedy is known for his composure under pressure, pinpoint distribution, and ability to break lines with surging runs. His performances in Croke Park have become the stuff of legend, with one former Tipp great famously remarking that “he only hurls above in Croke Park” after his standout displays in All-Ireland finals.
At club level, Kennedy has helped Clonmel Commercials to multiple county titles and a Munster club football crown in 2015, while also playing a central role in St Mary’s hurling successes, including their 2017 Tipperary Intermediate Championship win.
Despite suffering an ACL injury in 2024, Kennedy’s resilience and leadership remain undiminished. He embodies the spirit of Tipperary sport—tough, talented, and endlessly committed to the cause.
